This may not sound serious, but obesity produces a lot of long term effects and troubles for a person. Some of these are reduced life expectancy, heart disease, sleep apnea (a type of sleeping disorder caused by trouble breathing), type 2 diabetes, as well as certain forms of cancer. These are just a few of many problems that obesity causes.<span id="more-11"></span> The most serious fact about obesity is that it is becoming more common in children and teenagers. This is why the fight against obesity in children and teens is so very important. The absolute best way to fight obesity is to take preventative measures. Encouraging children and teens to make good eating choices and encouraging them to exercise and stay active is very important. In addition to that, praising children and teens when they make healthy choices is also a great way to fight obesity. The truth is, the obesity epidemic CAN be fought. People must simply be willing to take preventative measures by helping children and teens make healthy decisions. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you are looking for a fun way to incorporate some exercise into your day, then try some of these activities! They can all be done outdoors while you are by yourself, making them great for busy weekdays or some constructive &#8220;me time.&#8221;</p>
<p>1. Solo Basketball<br />
All you need is a ball and a net to get a great workout. You can run, jump, dribble, and shoot; playing basketball will give you a serious workout, and it&#8217;s great fun!</p>
<p>2. Nature Walks<br />
When you walk, try to pay attention to what is going<span id="more-10"></span> on around you. Look for plants, bugs, and animal tracks. Listen to bird calls and try to identify them. Even if you&#8217;re in the city, it&#8217;s fun to pay attention to your surroundings!</p>
<p>3. Wheels<br />
Bicycling, roller-skating, skateboarding&#8230; if you have a set of wheels, use them! Go to the park, circle your block, or even circle your driveway. Using your wheels is a refreshing alternative to walking or running, just make sure to wear a helmet and proper protective gear!</p>

Activities can either be organized or quickly pulled together with neighborhood kids.</p>
